Today is a great day to make a memory - Paige Evans Oh my Heart Collection

Hi there,  I want to share a page that I made nearly two months ago.  I used some cute photos of Stefan and the Paige Evans Oh my Heart collection.  The layout is based on Cariena's layout and sketch that was published in the Scrap Affairs Issue 52.

Supply list:  Patterned paper:  Paige Evans (Oh my Heart); Cardstock:  American Craft; Chipboard:  Celebr8; Embroidery Floss:  DMC; Mist:  Prima Bloom (Iris); Embossing Paste:  Wendy Vecchi; Stencil:  Celebr8; Embossing Powder: Lindy's (Oakleaf Olive), Wow (Rose Gold)

Some close ups:

I fussy cut the flowers from one of the patterned papers and stitched onto the flowers.  I attached it popping up some of the petals and leaves onto foam dots.

The Celebr8 title was just inked in black.  The stenciling was done with texture paste and a Celebr8 stencil.

I adore this Celebr8 chipboard heart.  So much that I have quite a few on in my stash.  I first applied texture paste roughly to the one half and let it dry before heat embossing it with rose gold embossing powder.

I used the same technique on the little hearts...I love the stitched flowers.

Some more stenciled work...the ink splatter was a happy accident.  I don't normally splatter but while I was shaking the bottle of Prima Color Bloom Mist I didn't notice that the top wasn't tightly closed and the result was a mess on my page.

I love the rose gold accents in this collection and that is why I decided that heat embossing all the chipboard pieces with rose gold was the way to go.

...and this is proof that it is just fine to use flowers on boy pages too.

Super Kids - CSI 231

Hi there.  Today I am playing along with the Color Story Inspiration case file 231. This page is something totally different...but it was fun to put together. The photo I am using are of my two smallest grandsons Stefan and Juan.  They were wearing super hero onesies and they will always be my little super heros.  Here is the page I made:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Kaisercraft (Finders Keepers), Studio Calico; Cardstock: American Craft; Vellum: American Craft; Wood Veneer: Studio Calico; Brads: Simple Stories (Posh); Enamel heart:  Illustrated Faith; Clear Stickers: Amy Tan; Mediums: Texture Paste, yellow acrylic paint;  Stencil: The Crafters Workshop;  Other: Silhouette Cameo (Title and Rosettes)

The case file:

This is how I solved the case file:

The Sketch:  used

The Scheme:  All colours used.

Evidence:  White background, stripes, animals, googl eyes, starburst, stars, hearts

Testimony:  I  used the word Super in my "Super Kids" title.  My journaling is a quote by Batman:  "A hero can be anyone.  Evan a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended."

Some close ups:

I applied some yellow coloured texture paste through a stencil on the background to add the starburst.

This title is from the Silhouette store...and I added some googly eyes to the capital letters.

The Rosettes and the "Kaboom" cut file is also from the Silhouette Store.

I love this quote as the journaling.

Happy - February 2017 Hip Kit

Hallo there.  Today I want to share a page that has been in process for the past week.  The photos were taken at he Knysna Heads in April this year.  In the past week this area has been devastated by uncontrolled fire and so many people have lost everything they own.  My heart goes out to everyone that is affected.  This page is based on the latest Stuck sketch challenge.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Maggie Holmes (Chasing Dreams), Crate Paper (Oasis), Dear Lizzy (Lovely Day); Cardstock:  American Craft; Chipboard:  Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams; Stickers: Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams; Enamel hearts: My Minds Eye; Die Cuts: Maggie Holmes (Chasing Dreams), Pretty Little Studio (with all my heart); Twine: Coats; Paint:  White acrylic; Other: Doilies from my stash.

The sketch:

Some close ups:
I decided to use the aqua cardstock and I just dry brushed white acrylic paint to give it an airy feel.

How beautiful is this Chasing Dreams collection.  I adore the chipboard pieces...so pretty.

Initially I wanted to add clouds to the top of the page...but the dry brushing of white paint turned out perfectly.

I tried to mimic the colour of the water of the Knysna lake.  I don't normally do much tearing but I am really happy with how this turned out.

This Smile - January 2017 Hip Kit

Hallo there.  I am sharing a page of my littlest grandson today.  My two smallest grandsons were born 3 months apart and they have been inseparable from day one.  The two of them also have this code...they hide when the camera comes out.  They WILL NOT smile or even look at the camera...this provided us with a problem of note when we had a grandparents photo shoot with our six blessings. The peachy patterned paper was taken from the Hip Kit December kit.  Fortunately the photographer was more than patient and in the end we got the shots we wanted.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  January Hip Kit exclusives, One Canoe Two (Hazelwood); Paige Evans (Fancy Free- peach paper), Paige Evans (Oh my heart - dark blue paper); Cardstock:  American Craft; Letter Stickers:  Hip Kit Exclusive, American Craft; Wood Veneer stars: Studio Calico; Clear Stickers: Pink Paislee; Paper Clip:  American Craft; Brads: My Minds Eye, Teresa Collins; Buttons: Basic Grey; Embroidery Floss: DMC;  Twine: WeR Memory Keepers; Ink: Distress Ink (Dried Marigold and Tattered rose); Stencil:  The Crafters Workshop; Border punch: Fiskars; Quickutz star dies.

I had to combine dried marigold and tattered rose distress ink to get the right color for my stenciling.

I adore the effect of the stitching on my pages.

The clear stickers nearly disappear on the photo but that is alright.

My photos are double matted and some of them are popped up on foam for dimension.

Isn't he too cute...I am so blessed to have my grandies in my life.

Be in love with your life - February 2017 Hip Kit

Hallo there.  At the beginning of this new week I want to share a page I made that is a bit different from what I normally do.  I loved this page by Beata Valint!!!  I wanted to challenge myself to use a large photo on my page...and this photo of Wynand and Nadia was perfect and allowed enough space in the photo for me to add a relatively large title.

Supplies list:  Patterned papers:  Maggie Holmes (Chasing dreams); Crate Paper (Oasis); Cardstock:  Amerian Craft:  Letter Stickers:  April Hip Kit Exclusive;  Word Phrases:  Tim Holtz; Chipboard:  Maggie Holmes; Foiled Hearts:  Pink Fresh Studio:  Stickers:  Maggie Holmes (Chasing Dreams); Embroidery Floss: DMC Variegated;  Other:  Silhouette Cameo to cut the hearts and the title.  Title font is Bromello.

Some close ups:

I cut the hearts with the Cameo and then backed it with patterned papers.  I then popped the hearts onto foam to add dimension.

I saw this quote on Pinterest and knew that I wanted to use it on a layout.

A little banner cluster and some hand stitching is about the only other embellishments added.

Some phrase stickers with a little foil heart to complete the page.

I love the new trend of gold foiling on the embellishments.

Happy Life - March 2017 Hip Kit - Stuck sketches

Hallo there.  I am sharing a page I made based on the latest Stuck sketch.  I must be honest and say that Laura just creates the most amazing inspiring sketches and I love to work with them.  I used the March Hip Kit and one of the photos taken during our photo shoot in February.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Dear Lizzy (Lovely day), Shimelle (Little by Little), Maggie Holmes (Chasing Dreams); Cardstock:  American Craft; Letter Stickers:  Dear Lizzy Thickers; Chipboard: Fabscraps; Flags:  Dear Lizzy; Flowers:  Prima; Rubber charms:  Pink Fresh (Dream On); Flair:  Hip Kit Exclusive; Leatherette shapes: Pink Fresh (Dream On); Enamel dots; My Minds Eye; Die cuts: Maggie Holmes (Chasing Dreams); Ink:  Distress Ink (tumbled glass, cracked pistachio); Stencil: Prima; Doilie: Stash

Laura's sketch:

Some close ups:
I stenciled the background with a pretty Prima stencil.  The chipboard clock was inked with blue Versa Magic (Night Sky).  How cute is the exclusive flair?

Some pretty layers and the colours of the flags were just perfect to be added to this cluster.

I love it when I can use my stash of Prima flowers.  The little rubber charms are by Pink Fresh Studio.  I added the little pink birdie on this side of the page.

I added the blue birdie on Kobus'  side.  The teal phrase sticker is a Pink Fresh leatherette sticker.

Another little cluster added to the journaling to draw the eye.

The Dear Lizzy thickers have beautiful gold accents...love it.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today ♥♥

Some LOVE lasts a lifetime - CSI 230 - January 2017 Hip Kits

Hi there,  I have had a nasty Fibromyalgia flare these past few weeks and it all came to a head this past week.  The pain levels went through the roof and I just needed to take time out to recover...so today is the first day in more than a week that I feel well enough to create again.  We have four of our six grandchildren in our home this weekend.  Kobus and Lache is on vacation in Thailand and we needed to give the other grandparents a break.

I struggled with the Color Story Inspiration case file no 230.  It isn't my "go to" colours and I tried to use the January Hip Kit as my kits have been heaping up and that makes me feel bad.  Here is the case file:

This is the best I could come up with:
Supply list:  Patterned papers:  January 2017 Hip Kit Exclusives, Hazelwood (One Canoe Two); Cardstock:  Bo Bunny, American Craft, Worldwin Papers; Letter Stickers:  Love foam sticker by American Craft; Phrase Stickers:  Tim Holtz; Wood Veneer:  Lawn Fawn, Studio Calico; Paperclip:  Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Metal Stars: Finnabair; Rubber charm: Amy Tangerine; Enamel dots: My Minds Eye, Cocoa Vanilla;  Die cuts: Pink Paislee; Embroidery Floss: DMC; Ink:  Distress Ink (Antique Linen); Stencil: Heidi Swapp; Other: Gelatos.

This is how I solved the case file:

The Scheme:  All 5 colours used.

Evidence:  stars, wood, metal, rubber charms, phrase stickers

Testimony:  I used the Carry on Tuesday prompt from #27.  "Some love lasts a liftetime.  True love lasts forever." I used it as my title.

I broke the white background by stenciling stars with distress ink through a stencil.  I love the added texture of the sage green hand stitching.

I applied some gelatos to the foam "love"sticker and made it an ombre effect.

One can never have too many stars for boy pages.

I am happy that I could make one of my kits work with this colour challenge.  I did dig into my cardstock to mat my photo on the various colours.

I love this Becky Higgins date stamp with it's added phrase.

I used this sketch by Laura Whitaker.  I adore her sketches.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope that I could inspire you to play along with the challenges.

Loved - September Hip Kit - Stuck sketches

Hallo there.  I hope you had a wonderful Mothers Day yesterday.  We spent the day at the Addo Elephant park and only returned late yesterday afternoon.  I want to share a page I made based on the May 1st Stuck sketch this month.  I have no shortage of beautiful photos to scrap at the moment...and I am enjoying every moment.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Maggie Holmes (Gather collection); Cardstock: American Craft:  Chipboard:Maggie Holmes, Pink Fresh Studio (hearts); Enamel dots: Simple Story; Die Cuts:  Maggie Holmes Gather Ephemera; Gold phrase stickers: Maggie Holmes Gather; Brads:  Simple Stories:  Embroidery Floss;  DMC; Mist:  Prima Color Bloom (Gold Foil);  Stencil:  The crafters workshop.

The sketch:

Some close ups;
I cut the scallop border with the Silhouette Cameo.  Don't you just love those chipboard hearts?

The gold foil phrases are just perfect with the stenciled background.

The "loved" chippie is also part of the Maggie Holmes (Gather chipboard)

I broke the white background by applying some gold foil mist through a stencil...and you can see my signature hand stitching above.

Those die cut flowers are a perfect match to the flowers on my dress :-P

Who doesn't love sparkly bits?

Thank you for visiting my blog today...do take part in the Stuck sketch challenges....Laura has such inspirational sketches ♥♥
